My Husband Survived Bladder CancerMy husband had a radical cystectomy. His bladder was removed and a new bladder was created from his intestines. The surgery was on Jan 28 a little over a month ago.

Re: My Husband Survived Bladder CancerMy husband and I are facing this procedure. He hasn't made up his mind as to whether he will have it done. How old is your husband. Mine is 77. Did he have the turp procedure. Going in the prostate? and if so how long was it before the constant having to urinate subsided if at all. Seems he's going more now than when he had the turp procedure done.
I commend you and your husband for going through that ordeal. I don't know how I will handle it but I know I have to. thanks for listning Gwen Jenkins
Re: My Husband Survived Bladder CancerYes. How old is your husband. This age information is very important. Im 76 and afraid my body will not tolerate the radical cystectomy. Also I have been told that I am not a candidate for an artificial internal bladder, and have to have the ileal stoma with a bag glued ourside my body (ugh). So, I have opted for the chemo/radiation alternative with is tantamount to an early death sentence. I have had three BC operations in an attempt to remove the bladder cancer before it invaded the muscle. All three operations failed. I now have stage 3 muscle invasive active cancer. I am urinating almost pure blood.
