Bladder Cancer

My husband age 65 (never smoked a day in his life) had surgery Wednesday and the results came back with carcinoma which the Doctor said was very aggresive but it had not gotten into the bladder muscle yet. He recommended 3 options.
1. BCG which might or might not work (would like some response from people who have tried.
2. To go to Duke and have the new bladder. Any one had this and what are the results?
3. Go to our local hospital and have the bladder removed and a stoma and bag.

My husband had such a hard time with the catherea that he is afraid the BCG treatment will go on and on and have to have this quite a few times and also there is no guarantee it will work the Doctor said he has seen this cancer grow while taking treatments. Our opinion is to just get rid of it for good.

Any advice or help will be appreciated.

56 when i was diagnosed. 5 yrs ago. bladder removed and i am now an ostomate. I was counseled by a prominent urologist. Told me , at my age, the bladder replacement was a long , complex way to handle. Went with the pouch. Been going strong since. Learn to live with the pouch, I think.

Hi,
I had 6 BCG treatments, but new tumors appeared. Then had 3 more. 6 months later, new tumors appeared. Had 9 mitimyacin treatments. Am now 2 years tumor free.

I would love to know who at Duke your doctor recommended. I live close to there.
