cytology results back, Dr.s waiting to redoI have posted before but I have since got my cytology reports back. They said they were atypical so they want to wait two monthes and do them again. Is this normal? Could it be dangerous to wait? They don't seem to competant where I go, but it is a teaching hospital. I have since also noticed that I have a swollen gland in my armpit. Infection? Anyways, I am trying to get them to send me the cytology report so maybe I can get another opinion. Is this normal procedure, to wait and redo?
Re: cytology results back, Dr.s waiting to redoOk. I got the report back
Atypical Cells present Clusters of Atypical urothelial cells, squamous cells, columner cells, and traces of blood. Neoplasm cannot be ruled out. This seems like something they shouldnt be waiting monthes on to redo tests. This was on a washed urine speciman. The one before that was a voided one, and it said it was inconclusive because the cells were blocked with too much lysed blood. It just could tell some degenerate urothelial cells. I rent a room in a house with an RN, and she said unfortunately I will probably have to plan a day and go to the emergency room of the major teaching hospital and demand attention. With healthcare the way it is the clinic patients get pushed to the back. Has anyone had these types of results on their tests, and what were the end results? Thank you
Re: cytology results back, Dr.s waiting to redoThis doesnt sound at all like something that should be waiting another 2 months on. You have lymph nodes in each armpit and swelling and or pain there sounds lymph node related to me. Your RN friend can also tell you about that.
I suggest first calling and asking to talk to the doctor in charge of the clinic to explain about the report, the armpits, and a briefly tell the doctor about your history and concern that they are dragging their feet on your case. Demand some action , it seems like an oncologist should be working with you. If you arent getting prompt attention on this, calling the local news media( newspaper,tv) may get things hopping for you. No clinic or hospital wants bad press I asssure you. I was a hospital Chief Financial Officer for 22 years and I saw many people treated for whatever we could do without receiving a penny. We always hope we get paid, but that becomes secondary to a life. David
