Bladder Cancer

Just in the past two weeks we have been dealing with the new prognosis of my father's bladder cancer. We were told that last fri, they would go in through the urethra and burn or scrape out the cancer. We were under the impression that this was an outpatient surgery and he would be home that night. the doctor came to speak with us after going in, and told us it was much more extensive. while inside, he biopsied, and as deep as he went into the bladder walls, he could find no healthy tissue. He even suspects that has seeped into the seminal vesical, and we assume that the bladder and prostate will be removed. we are now waiting on the results from the pathologist, to see i guess just how far this has gone. we have an appt. on fri to discuss options. i guess i am just looking for someone out there who has dealt with this, and how was the surgery/recovery, ect. He would like to hear from someone who has been through it. We need some kind of hope and consulation that he will get through this, and carry on with a normal cancer free life. thanks and god bless each and every one of you and your familes coping with this horrible disease.
