Re: how long wait after 6 th BCG to check for BladderMy doctor waited 6 weeks. I don't know if that's a standard or not. I was first diagnosed in November of 2007, and had a trans-urethral resection. Then I was sent for an MRI to check lymph nodes & something they didn't like on a kidney. I had a 6 week series with BCG, then cystoscope 6 weeks later. There were a few small tumors that time, so we decided to try one more series of BCG. I don't know what was different the second time, but it was a lot more trouble, painful urination & passing blood for a day after the treatments. 6 weeks after that series a cystoscope exam was negative. In three months I have another cystoscope. It lookes for now like the second round of BCG worked.

In November 2007 I had a "Transurethral resection", removed a golf ball sized tumor. I had an MRI after that to check lymph nodes. Then I was scoped in March 2008, removed 4 superficial tumors. Six weeks after that we did one six week run of BCG. Six weeks later another scope, there was something suspicious but not enough for a biopsy, so we did another run of BCG six weeks after that. Here's what I consider the important part. During the second run of BCG I reduced water intake on the day of treatment and was able to keep it in place at least two hours. Unlike the first time, I developed a slight fever, painful urination the rest of the day, passed some blood in the urine the rest of the day as well. I mentioned this to my doctor on the second visit, he told me to get a good thermometer and head to the ER if my temperature went over 101.5, otherwise not to worry. Six weeks after that I was scoped, and was clean. Three months takes us to last week and another clean scoping. Hope this helps you.
