My doctor waited 6 weeks. I don't know if that's a standard or not. I was first diagnosed in November of 2007, and had a trans-urethral resection. Then I was sent for an MRI to check lymph nodes & something they didn't like on a kidney. I had a 6 week series with BCG, then cystoscope 6 weeks later. There were a few small tumors that time, so we decided to try one more series of BCG. I don't know what was different the second time, but it was a lot more trouble, painful urination & passing blood for a day after the treatments. 6 weeks after that series a cystoscope exam was negative. In three months I have another cystoscope. It lookes for now like the second round of BCG worked.

I just had the second cystocopy I mentioned in my first post. Also negative. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Need to ask ? I have had 2 surgeys on bladder both time removing tumors.I was clean for 9 months after first surgey then found tumors returned had 2nd surgey.( tumors did not invade bladder wall) My 3 month scope after 2nd surgey was clean i go for my 6th month scope Feb 19 not feeling good about this one i have had infections and then some. My ? is did you have BCG and tumor removed or just BCG. I think i will ask my Dr about this if my scope is not good. Thanks for any info

In November 2007 I had a "Transurethral resection", removed a golf ball sized tumor. I had an MRI after that to check lymph nodes. Then I was scoped in March 2008, removed 4 superficial tumors. Six weeks after that we did one six week run of BCG. Six weeks later another scope, there was something suspicious but not enough for a biopsy, so we did another run of BCG six weeks after that.
Here's what I consider the important part. During the second run of BCG I reduced water intake on the day of treatment and was able to keep it in place at least two hours. Unlike the first time, I developed a slight fever, painful urination the rest of the day, passed some blood in the urine the rest of the day as well. I mentioned this to my doctor on the second visit, he told me to get a good thermometer and head to the ER if my temperature went over 101.5, otherwise not to worry.
Six weeks after that I was scoped, and was clean. Three months takes us to last week and another clean scoping.
Hope this helps you.
