New to this mess

Post a new topicby stevelasvegas on Thu Jul 17, 2008 6:45 pm

Pathology of TURBT reported: 6/2008 55 year old male -
high grade urothelial dysplasia, non invasive and high
grade urothelial carcinoma with lamina propria
invasion, no muscularis propria invasion identified.

So, for the last month or so, I have been reading as
much information as I can. My goal is to be an
informed patient so I feel comfortable with the
decisions that I make regarding my treatment. I am
familiarizing myself with the data that pertains to my
situation, will confer with medical experts, and
expose myself to experienced patients’ histories.

I have been following the posts in this forum and find
them to be very useful. I hope to include myself with
the many of you who have continued your lives, long
after your diagnosis of this terrible disease.

At this point, I am seriously considering a radical
cystectomy. I have a consult with a doctor at the VA
hospital in San Diego and a consult scheduled with a
doctor at UCLA.

This is my first post; hopefully the first of many
years of posts.

Steve

Had my bladder removed earlier this year along with my prostate and anything else they could find.
The after operation was relatively painless and except for the bag hanging out of my side life is normal. The doctor I had indicated that because of the cancer, removal of the bladder was a good idea as "you don't want to go that way". -- My age? - 69
