So I have to get a Cystoscopy?

Right now I am having a problem with frequency and it seems to be getting worse. I went to urologist and initial visit was a sonagram and urine test and pevic exam. Now he wants to do cystoscopy Meanwhile I started taking Detrol to see if that would help but it has only been a week and it isn't making a difference. So I have been on the internet searching for alternatives that might help. I guess my question is do I have to have a cystoscopy for the doctor to be able to diagnose? I know it will either tell something or not. I have read enough to see this is a tough problem to control. I am going to start on a IC diet as best as possible. It didn't sound like a diagnosis was going to bring much relief other than elimination of more serious problems or bladder stones. Thoughts?
