Urinary retention

Post a new topicby imfrustrated on Mon Apr 14, 2008 6:49 pm

I have urinary retention and I have been self catherizing for about a month. I have had urodynamics done and my urologist sent me to a neurologist to find out why my bladder is not getting the signal to empty. I have had an MRI done of my brain, cervical and lumbar spine. Waiting to get results back from the cervical and brain MRI The lumbar spine was normal. I also have pelvic floor prolapses that need to be fixed. I can't seem to get answers from the neurologist. He is on vacation or not in his office or whatever and doesn't return phone calls. My gynocologist won't do the prolape surgery until the neurologist says it's okay. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm so frustrated not knowing what is going on with my bladder! I can only void by myself if I am overfull. HELP!

We cath my 4 year old 4 times a day. I'm assuming they checked for tethered cord during your MRI. We really haven't gotten any answers yet as to what causes this or if there is anything we can do about it.

Hi Imfrusted,
I have the same problem along with urgency etc... I have been selfcathing for a month also. Not alot of fun! That is why I posted my Interstim question. You might want to visit the Medtronic website and see if it might be a solution for you?
