Hi Wildfire,

Proscar and Propecia both contain Finasteride which is the active ingredient.

COMMON - Feeling like you might pass out, swelling in your hands or feet, pain in the testicles, impotence, loss of interest in sex, or trouble having an orgasm, abnormal ejaculation, swelling or tenderness in your breasts, dizziness, weakness, headache, runny nose, skin rash.

SERIOUS (seek medical attention immediately if any of these are experienced): hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you notice any breast lumps, pain, nipple discharge, or other breast changes. These may be signs of male breast cancer.

Not everyone experiences these symptoms. But more do than what I believe is acceptable.

An alternative is to try taking some natural herbal supplements. Many men have achieved the same result in a shorter period of time with no side effects. Try taking saw palmetto or pygreum, these shrink the size of the prostate and promote overall male reproductive and urinary health. Walking and doing the Kegel exercise will stimulate bloodflow to the pelvic region which helps as well.

Hope that helps

In fact, most people tolerate Proscar well. When side effects do occur, they are generally minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects of Proscar
Proscar has been thoroughly studied in clinical trials, with many people having been evaluated. In these studies, side effects occurring in the group of people taking the drug are always documented and compared to the side effects that occur in a similar group of people not taking the medicine. Based on these studies, the most common Proscar side effects include:

* Erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence -- in up to 18.5 percent of people
* Decreased libido (sex drive) -- up to 10 percent
* Abnormal ejaculation, including decreased ejaculate amount -- up to 7.2 percent
* Breast enlargement -- up to 2.2 percen
