REGARDING YOUR QUESTION. MRI WILL AND CAN SHOW MS, BUT NOT ALL MS SHOW ON AN EARLY MRI. THE SECOND WAY FOR A DX. IS A LUMBAR PUNCTURE. HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP TO YOU! GOOD LUCK!! Re: Re: MRI and MSBJ is correct, MS can generally be diagnosed on MRI. However, in a small percentage of patients abnomalities may be present in the orbits or spine which may not be seen on a conventional MRI of the brain. As was pointed out, if you physician suspects MS he/she may request a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) to check for abnormalities in the spinal fluid which may be present in patient with MS.
