Loss of Penile SensitivityFollowing surgery for an inquinal hernia, my husband reports he has lost sensation in his penis required in order to achieve ejaculation. Surgeon claims no responsibility. Primary physician suggests perhaps surgeon cut a nerve which may or may not regenerate in time. He was fine one day prior to surgery, but now 11 weeks postop has only managed to ejaculate once (not during intercourse). To further confuse the issue, two weeks before surgery he started an ace inhibitor for hypertension His doc claims that this drug doesn't affect sensitivity; only erection problems which he doesn't have thanks to Viagra. So, we don't know which of the two things is causing the problem.
Any suggestions/ideas would be welcome.

Any suggestions/ideas would be welcome. It probable has to do with pain in the area, the nerves for erection and ejaculation are not in the area of a hernia repair. The ace inhibitor can cause problems with erections and the fact that he uses Viagra indicates he already had a problem with ED. Some nerve fibers in the skin may be disrupted but only on the side of the hernia so the other side should be intact. If this is the case it will most likely improve.
