MS and female orgasm

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Aug 06, 2003 6:35 pm

My wife has MS. She takes medications to slow the progression and it seems to be working. Unfortunately, she has also lost the ability to have an orgasm. It bothers her a great deal. She is to embarrassed to ask her neurologist and other docs. Anyone else out there going through this that can help?

Sometimes numbness in general can make the sensation of orgasm difficult for a person with MS. If she is embarrassed to ask the neurologist have her get an appointment with a female gynecologist where she might feel more comfortable. Folks need to remember that doctors are professionals and at their best should be approachable. Since your wife is bothered by this she has to get over her embarrassment and give her physicians a chance to help her. I feel more comfortable with women physicians myself. There may also be some help available at your local MS office in publications and I believe there have recently been some articles in their national publication dealing with this very same problem. I have MS and went through a period where I could not feel myself urinating which was annoying to say the least. Good luck to both of you.
