is it likely

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun May 26, 2002 2:56 am

I recently discovered that I have a slighty swollen lymph node in my groin, which hurt slightly. 3 days later, I felt slightly feverish and had muscle ache all over, but all these lasted only 12 hours or so.

I feel completely alright after a day.

Is it likely that ARS symptoms would last only this short?

Also, is it possible that the swollen lymph node that I had is due to a severe scratch on my buttock area? I really hope that this is so and not because I am going through ARS after a very low risk incident.

It all depends on your exposure. What you're describing is not at all typical of ARS. Not at all. But could it be seen with ARS? Yep. It could also be seen with a scratch on the buttock as you describe or a scratch on the leg, or nothing in particular at all.
The lymph gland swelling with ars comes in 2 weeks or so after exposure and usually involves all the glands-- neck, arm pits, groin, etc.
But if you said to me that you had just injected a needle into your vein that had just been used by a positive person, or if you had just had unprotected anal intercourse with a known positive person, that might make me more concerned. If you had a no or low risk exposure (like many described in this forum), I'd doubt it.
