Just wanted to run it by one last time

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Jun 20, 2002 11:14 pm

Hi Doctor,

Sorry for bothering you again. I got my results back on paper and they are as follows..

Negative ELISA HIV -1\2
Negative Western Blot on all bands
Negative PCR DNA
Negative P24 Antigen <10

I did'nt know which exact tests were done the last time I posted so thats what I'm asking you again. Does this rule out HIV conclusively or is there something else I need to do. These tests were done 8 months to the day post exposure.

Congratulations Kevinber, you're negataive. There are no other commercially available tests available. All of them are negative. This is as conclusive as it gets!
good luck, GR

Hi Doctor,

In the unlikely event of not being caught on the antibody test would the PCR DNA be positive if indeed I were infected?

Regards,

Kevin

The most real answer to your question is..
KEVINBER STOP.
Yes the pcr would be positive. At this point you're negative for every commercially available test.
Time to move on.

Doctor,

I'm sorry for being so persistent but I have read information regarding delayed seroconversion which really scared me. With this in mind how can I be sure I'm OK. Have you ever heard of someone being negative on both PCR and ELISA and still be infected? Sorry for being such a pain but it's just so confusing.

Kind Regards,

Kevin

not with that panel of tests. And it's not confusing. It's straightforward. GR

Doctor,

Have you ever heard of someone being negative on both PCR and ELISA at 8 months post exposure and still be infected and have you heard of any recent cases of delayed seroconversion?

Regards,

Kevin
