Risk and testing!

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Apr 12, 2002 5:45 am

Hi
Thankyou in advance for responding to my questions. I had unprotected anal sex, but my partner did not cum inside me. He ejaculated outside of me. He says he doesn't think that he has ever put himself at risk. What are the risks of transmissiion from precum? Is it low risk and should I have anything to worry about? I had a test at 3 weeks (23 days) which was negative and plan to have another at 6 weeks (44 days). Do I need to take this test? I live in the UK. Would 6 weeks be conclusive?
Please advise on these concerns.

Once again, Thankyou for your advice.

First, he's at risk if he puts his penis in an hiv positive rectum. The penis is an hiv magnet and the rectum is hiv rich. Now I get that as far as you know, youi're negative. I'd say a negative elisa at 6 weeks is pretty reassuring. If you've had NO SYMPTOMS of acute retroviral syndrome, you could move on. And always use condoms when being a bottom. That is very high risk. If he didn't ejaculate or have precum, the risk is probably about zero though. If you had symptoms of ARS I'd get a viral load. GR

Once again thank you for such a quick response. I will be having a test at six weeks. One last point to clarify- what is the risk if there was a small amount of precum?

Thanks again for your help.

We don't really know the exact risk. It depends on how much precum, if he's positive, what his viral load is, if you've got any sores present, your own native immunity, and LUCK! Those are all things that you can't control. There's only one thing you can control....the actual future sexual behaviors you engage in. good luck GR
