symptoms etc

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue May 14, 2002 7:33 am

Hi

I had proective sex with a prositute only lasting one minute and then I removed the condom and was given a had job. About 2 weeks after this I got a blister and following this I got a type of rash on the soles of my feet, kinda of like a series on white bumps which were seemed very itchy. I showed no other symptoms

I then started a relstionship with a girl and have been having unprotcetive sex with her. After about 5/6 weeks she became very ill and was sick, her tonsels and throat became very sore. She also had aching bones particulalry her back and cold sweats. The sickness only lasted one day but the sore throat and sweats lasted for 4 days.

This suddenly made me think that we were now both infected. Please adive. thanks

If you only had sex with her with a condom on for one minute, and then she only gave you a hand job, how could you have gotten hiv? The "blister" and rash could be syphillus?? Can you describe the blister better as well as the rash? Also, any other exposure you had with her. GR

hi

thanks for your reply. the bilster was on the sole of the foot towards one side and appeared like normal large blister near the back heal on the sole of my foot. which could of been as a result of using my trainers without socks. a rash/bumbs appeared about one/two weeks later (about 5 weeks after i slept with the prostitute). this appeared as a series of white, maybe 4/5, bumbs right on the middle of my foot (about 1/2cm long all in the area of about one square inch) which were very itchy. when scratched the appeared to be a bit like warts and they seemed to have two red dots in them? i went to have a std test and they told me they thought it was a type of exma but i'm not sure if they looked closely as i feel the look could have been a result of me scratching them. they checked for syphalis as i thought it could be that but it was clear. I still have a few bumbs/nodules left on one foot and that is now 10 weeks after the initial incident but they no longer itch and they have all gone on the other foot

i only then thought about hiv (for which i didn't have a test) a few weeks later when my new girlfriend came down with a short fever. initial sickness (one night), high temp, sweats, sore throat plus aching bones (particuarly back bone) in all it lasted 3/4 days with the fever, aching bones and high temp lasting about 2. this was about 5/6 weeks since we started having unprotected sex which i know is within the timing frame for acute hiv.

at the same time other people where getting quite serious tonsillitos (with similar effects except for the nausea/sickness) and she also went a way to a festival a two days prior and could have eaten bad food

but your advice would be welcome as i'm not sure how long acute hiv symptoms last etc or what my rash/bumbs could have been.

thanks

None of your symptoms or anything about your exposure (if exposure is the right term) brings hiv to mind. Your girlfriend's symptoms could be acute retroviral syndrome, though, there is usually rash. The other thing against it is that you're concerned you could have given it to her, but we don't have any reason to believe you have hiv.
The bumps on your feet do sound like a blister and maybe eczema.
