did we screw up his SA?

Post a new topicby want1more on Mon Oct 01, 2007 6:55 pm

HI. My husband had an SA done 2 weeks ago w/ bad results:
total count= 3.5 mil
volume= 3 mL
motility= 6% slow progression, 94% immotile
viscosity= high
pH= 8.0
morphology=100% severly amorphous
Told by nurse that there were elevated white blood cells 244/100 sperm.
We have 2 children ages 4 and almost 2, so we were shocked at the results. The reason I'm asking if we screwed up his analysis is we know they said to not ejaculate for 2-5 days before the test. His last ejaculation was on a Sat. night. We had sex on Sun night and Tues and he didn't "go" and his test was Wed. morning. Could that have had any effect on the numbers above. Some things have changed since having our second son, we've joined a gym and he works out like 4 x/wk now and goes in the sauna for about 10 minutes after each workout. We didn't think that would have too much of an effect, but perhaps we were wrong about that. Our first son was conceived w/out trying--first month we didn't use protection of some sort and our second son took a little longer, about 8 months. We've now been trying for 8 months and the only reason he had the work up was because my ob/gyn didn't think it could hurt as I am on progesterone for short luteal phases and wanted to make sure we weren't up against anything else. What a shock! We were told to make an appt. w/ a urologist, so he'll be doing that once he gets back into town. We were just wondering if the messing around w/ no release could have left some dead sperm around or something else before the test. Any info anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

Liz

Sounds like you should have a second test withe the required amount of abstinence, good luck

Hi,
I'm I to gather that you are trying to conceive. If so, both of you should not drink any alcohol for 3 weeks, and it'll happen. Also, prevent from eating any allergy foods (Nuts, Soy etc). Just get organic foods, and do not go for processed foods.

Good luck.
