My Hydrocele surgery done this summer...I wish i found this forum when i was about to have my surgery so it can calm me down but i didnt know about it. I just registered to give you guys some info if you are considering the surgery because i know how worried i was.
History First i want to say that my testicle began growing 2-3 years earlier. By the time i decided to go to the doctor it was the size of a average chicken egg. I never even checked it out before that because i was pretty much sure that it was cancer because as soon as i would type swollen testicle in google it would give me 100 results mentioning cancer. Yah i know i was stupid for not going to the doctor , but i was scared. I have a slight phobia of doctors, i have this feeling like they only care about how much money they gonna get from my insurance and that they dont care about me. Anyway it came to the point where i was refusing sex because i was worried what the girl would think about my large testicle. I couldn't go swimming because after going in the water and coming out my testicle was visible through the shorts. Considering the sex issue and swimming was one of my favorite things to do during the summer i decided i had enough. I was ready to cut it off if i had to so i got enough strength to go to the urologist. It was very weird especially when i saw that urologist was a male and had to show him the package. It was pretty weird having a guy feel on my testicles but it was worth it. Anyway, i was determined and doc diagnosed me with Hydrocele I was happy that it wasnt cancer, but i was pissed that surgery was the only way to fix it. Surgery When doc told me i wasnt going to die but surgery was the only way to fix it i had a very hard decision to make. On one hand i was sick of refusing sex and not being able to go swimming, on the other hand the thought of someone going near my manhood with a knife scared the living crap out of me. After putting much thought into it i decided to go for the surgery. The doctor told me surgery was going to last 20-30 mins and there was some danger of infection. I asked how painful it was going to be and he informed me that pain would be moderate to severe because it was a very sensitive area. I had the surgery and it went great. First week my testicle was swollen but i literally had NO pain. Doctor gave me medication for pain but i never had to use it. The scar on the testicle was visible first month but now after 3 months you can barely see it. Its a great feeling and i think that it was worth going to the trouble... now i dont have to worry what the girls will think and i can go swimming. IF you are diagnosed with Hydrocele i would suggest that you do the surgery because for me it was not a big deal. Worst part was getting over my own fear... GOOD LUCK and FEEL BETTER.
Re: My Hydrocele surgery done this summer...I enjoy reading your sharing here, thanks.
Your history part is similar to mine, but I had hydrocele almost 25 years. I am 42 years old. I had my surgery on 1/29/09. almost 5 months I still feel uncomfortable with my testicle. I told my doctor and it seems not much he can help. He told me to wear those underwear which is for bicycle riders. SIGH.... Do you have any advise..?

I never had any problems w my testicle after the surgery. However i do not wear boxers at all i always wear briefs which support your package, so that might help you out.
Re: My Hydrocele surgery done this summer...totally agree your situation sounds like mine just getting over my fear of hospital but its definetly worth it in the end. i did have abit pain after the surgery though especially trying to get comfortable when sleeping but that was only for about a week
Re: My Hydrocele surgery done this summer...yer mine was before i had it removed was about the size of a small tangerine. i would 100% recommend it because not only is it abnormal but it always plays on your mind. the discomfort is nothing a couple of pain killers cant handle, do it dude!
