Recently had hydrocelectomy, have a few questions

Post a new topicby WSW on Sun May 24, 2009 3:42 pm

hello,

I Thursday of last week I had this procedure done and as of yesterday pain has started to subside. My questions are , #1 There still seems to be a hard lump over the top of the testicle and I am wondering if this is going to stay that way? It is somewhat elongated from the pelvis area running down to the testicle (kind of shaped like a tube). Is this something i should worry about? My other question is that when I look at me testicles the side that was operated on, all the skin is very saggy and ugly as opposed to the normal side which is taught and holding the testicle normally, will my other side return to the same as the good side? I am worried as the way it looks is starting to bother me I am affraid it is going to stay that way, all loose and saggy!

Thanks

Don't feel badly, mate. I don't think this is a talkative bunch. I had a question about recurrence after an OP and got no answer. I'm still looking for more info on this stuff.

I don't know how large your hydrocele was, but my skin shrunk back up until the new and improved hydrocele showed up. It took nearly eight weeks for things to be back to "normal".

Good luck!

Hi WSW,

I am 42, and I had hydrocele on my life side since 1984, and I finally had hydrocelectomy on 1/29/09.

I fully understand your worry about ugly and saggy skin as I have the same condition. It does worry me a lot. Since I had hydrocele so many years, my doctor said that my saggy skin will take a least a year back to normal. So frustrated to hear it. Not much choices but only have to wait it happen someday.

Besides the outlook of it, I still feel uncomfortable for my left testicle. It has been almost 5 months.

Overall feeling: depressed.

In my case I had the same lump, it does go away in time (I am a little over the 6 month mark now)what my doctor told me it was old blood. Scar is still a littel tender. As for the "surgery side loose skin" mine is opposite the skin is tighter on the surgery side.

Try to remember many that post here myself included only visit the forum now and then, But when you are laid up and can not do anything but heal it is a great time killer.

As for my procedure I am 100% and back working hard again but you can bet I watch when and how I lift. Sex is back to normal, and all activities going strong. I keep a close eye on my right side also which is normal. Good luck to all. Wrk.

Hi wrk,

Thanks for your sharing, and glad to know you can back to your normal activities, including sex..haha.

Regarding my "surgery side loose skin" issue, to be exact, mine is sometimes tighter and sometimes looser on the surgery side. SIGH...

Hopefully my uncomfortable feeling will go away in time. I have more than enough..!!

Good luck to all.

Overall feeling: still depressed.

rfung,

Give it some time, (about two months) the pain and the swelling will take some time to go down, I still have a lttle tenderness on my left side and when I sleep on my side, but it is not bad, The sac will shrink up when all swelling is gone. Now we just have to hope the other side doesn't get a Hydrocele.

I was diagnoised with this around the first of the year. '09. Dr. wants to operate. After reading most of the posts, I have alot of hesitation. Mostly no pain. About the size of a clenched fist, which I can live with. At this time I am going to waite for more info and more successful stories. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Well you could have the Dr. drain it and see what happens, this causes no pain and is done in about 20 minutes, if it comes back you may need to have it operated on, My case I was told was not normal, so do some more research, but I am much better off for now, no more rashes and or swelling pain, my scar area is still alittle tender but other than that no problems. If you do decide to have it done, just plan ahead and be prepaired to take a few weeks off doing nothing. Good luck, wrk
