Specifically for doctors, but any answer would do from anyonHi everyone. I was diagnosed with epididymitus around june of 2007 (although this is not what i have, so please continue to read on). I never experienced pain until june of 2009 (and it was the 19th i remember, as the pain was so bad when i got it, i wrote down on the calendar what day it started) and then it was off and on until july 4th, when i finally had enough and i went to the Emergency Room and the doctor felt me up, then took a urine sample from me and tested it, came back and said "your white blood cell count is elevated due to infection and you have epididymitus."
Anyways, he prescribed me Ciprofloxacin for 10 days, with a total of 20 pills. I only took it for four days, and my scrotum is already feeling lighter (i had a heaviness in my scrotum, and my testicles were also bigger) and also the pain has gone away. But for awhile right after the 19th when i started feeling pain, i remembered that the doc said 2 years back it was epididymitus, so i did a ton of research about it, and found literally every man who had it complain of pain right away, so i was puzzled and asked myself "Well why have i been painless for two years and now im receiving pain?" so i knew that wasn't right. So i made a urologist appointment for the 9th of July (today obviously lol) and i recieved an ultrasound and they told me afterall it wasn't epididymitus! so instantly i was relieved, and they told me i have two hydroceles and that the reason why they were causing me pain now is because it was caused by a bacterial infection. Well i told the doc today straight up "please let me stop taking cipro. i've been experiencing freakish hallucinogetic nightmares and i've been feeling suicidal lately" so he did, but i read on many websites that if you take anti-biotics for just a few days and not it's entire course, that the bacteria infection can get worse and then your body can become resistant to other anti-biotics. Well so my question i have for you guys (and first let me say that i really would like a doctor to answer this though, as i don't wanna hear what you guys may think it is, but rather what you know it is. no offense, but i know a doctor might be able to give a straight foward answer, while some of you may want to just tell me what you think. im just still a little scared and want the most accurate answer is all..) well my question is, since i was prescribed to take it 10 days and i only took it for four, am i at risk for my body becoming resistant to antibiotics? PS: i forgot to add, today on my urologist appointment i had another urine sample tested before i had the ultrasound, and after i had the ultrasound and c ame back upstairs and gave it to the doc, he checked it out, and the doc told me later "your urine seems normal, so whatever the doc at the E.R put you on seemed to help it, and just come back if your hydroceles start to bother you again" but do you think that if i needed to be put back on antibiotics (but obviously, another than cipro) that he would have told me? i asked him and he said he thinks i should be fine, as they didn't find any more bacteria or anything wrong with my urine, and that my hydroceles seem to just be hydroceles now and don't look infected. Iam curious though, because if i need to be on anti-biotics i need to know ASAP as i've already been off anti biotics for almost a day and a half (last pill i took of ciprofloxacin was yesterday morning at 11:30) so to any doctor or anybody here who knows, can you answer this question ASAP? im really concerned
