drugs and infertility

Post a new topicby jbrown123 on Sat Aug 11, 2007 11:31 am

My wife and I are planning to have a child and we are going to start next week. This weekend I hung out with an old friend and did a couple stupid things. We did a little cocaine and speed one day and some the next. I've been researching and discovered that drug use can cause low sperm counts and birth defects. I want to know if using those drugs those 2 days are going to affect my sperm count or create possible birth defects if we try to conceive a child next week or next month, etc.

FYI. I haven't used any illegal drugs in over 10 years. I just want to know if using these drugs these 2 days did any damage. I dont plan on using any more illegal drugs in the future.

Thanks,
James

I don't think anyone can say for sure but with only doing drugs one time as opposed to chronically the odds of causing a problem are low. Sperm take 3 months to develope so any damage should probable be seen 3 months from now. I would discuss it with your wife and your doctor.
