Inablilty to ejaculate post MVA

Post a new topicby junebug38 on Sun Aug 26, 2007 10:01 pm

I am a 38 yr old male who was involved in a MVA in which I suffered a broken back. I was catheterized for about 6 months during the recovery phase. I am now experiencing problems with urinating and the inability to ejaculate. I have to stand and wait for a while before I began to urinate. During my first sexual encounter post accident, I did not and still have not been able to ejaculate. I have noticed that my urine is cloudy after my sexual encounter. Does this means that the semen is going into my bladder? Is this anything to worry about? Also, I would like to know is this a side effect from being catheterized and will things return to pre-accident functioning?

You maybe experiencing retrograde ejaculation which maybe caused from DSD (detrusor sphincter dysenergia), which basically means your sphincter is not relaxing when you urinate or ejaculate. The retrograde ejaculation is not harmful but it will make getting someone pregnant difficult, although not impossible and this is not a form of birth control. Depending on what happens to your spinal cord injury you may or may not get this function back, good luck
