Varicocele and Infertility (additional info.)Dr. Williams:
In response to my original post on the subject "varicocele and infertility" you advised me that with more information you might suggest varicocele correction. The following are the results of 2 semen analysis that I was advised were normal. Today was the first time I actually saw the results myself. Could you advise me if these results are indeed normal and what my future course of action should be. Quoted normal ranges are in brackets. Collection Dates:Oct.29/99 - Nov.26/99 Collection Times:0830am - 0930am Times Processed:0915am - 1055am Volume:3.0 ml - 2.2 ml (>2.0 ml) Concentration:42.8x10E6/ml - 35.8x10E6/ml (>20x10E6/ml) Motility:56% - 73% (>50%) Progressively Motile:36% - 60% Non-Progressive:20% - 13% Non-Motile:44% - 27% Normal Forms:33% - 20% (>30%) Viscosity:normal - normal pH:8.1 - 8.1 (7.2-8.0) Days of abstinence:3 - 3 My main concern is fertility, however I would also like to know if there are other reasons why a varicocele should or should not be repaired. Please advise. Thanks.
