Hi, my name is Denise and I was diagnosed with IC in 1995. My primary physician recommended that I see a Urologist due to the repeated negative UTI results. I was experiencing problems for many years prior to being referred. My urologist initially diagnosed me by way of a Cystoscopy He was able to rule out bladder cancer through a Biopsy.

HI , I HOPE THIS WILL HELP A LITTLE. URO S DO BLADDER INSTILLATION WITH D.M.S.O IN THE OFFICES WITH OUT ANAESTHESIA BECAUSE WHEN YOU GET THIS DONE YOU GET 1 A WEEK FOR ABOUT 6 TO 10 WEEKS.YES IT HURTS LIKE HELL BUT YOU HAVE TO DESIDE THE PROS OR CONS . THE ONLY TIME YOU GET A ANAESTHESIA IS WHEN THE URO S GIVE YOU A DISTENTION AND SOMETIMES THEY WILL DO A D.M.S.O WITH IT. SOMETIMES THE URO S GIVE YOU MEDS AND SOME MAY HELP AND SOME MAY NOT. IC STUDIES HAVE COME A LONG WAY TO HELP PEOPLE LIKE US TO COPE WITH THIS DISEASE BUT THERE IS NO CURE. I HAVE HAD I.C FOR 18 YEARS AND IVE TRIED EVERY THING BUT ONE.THEY HAVE BOTOX FOR THE BLADDER THAT THEY INJECT IT IN TO THE WALL OF THE BLADDER THIS IS A NEW STUDY BUT IM WILLING TO TRY IT BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN ON A FLARE FOR 3 MONTHS AND I CANT LIVE ON PAIN MEDS.

WELL I HOPE THIS HELPS AND KEEP ME UPDATED ON HOW THINGS GO .

Hi,

I have had botox injections 2x in Dec. of 2005 and again in July of 2006. It was amazing how well it helped with the urgancy and frequency. Basically it paralyzes the area where it is injected. The only problem I had and it was a big one was that it increased my pain 10 fold. My uro has used it on 3 other patients and they did not have the same problem with increased pain, infact on saw a huge decrease in her pain level along with the urgancy and frequency being gone. It usually last 4 - 6 months. I hope the info helped. Good luck!
