I am 28 years old and was diagnosed with IC 2 years ago. Below is a brief (or not so brief) timeline of the tests and treatments I have tried…. My doctor mentioned the Interstim Therapy to me a few days ago.. I have been researching it, and it doesn’t seem worth it to me. For every great story I read, I read two bad ones…. The inter stym didn't work for me at all it made life worse. I had Botox shots 2 x's they hurt for 2 weeks to follow, I really didn't see a difference and worse of all my insurance wouldn't pay a dime. NOt a single dime. My Doctor did the Hydroextention along with the Cystoscopy which they always pay for, but refused with the Botox added. and I paid the Doctor $850 he cut part of that bill, but the hospital won't it's total was $12,000 a $1,000 per shot, $6,000 per surgery. Contact your insurance company. If they will pay, it may work for you but it didn't help me and left me in debt. I have nightmares about the Inter stym's affect on my body & life so I would never recommend that.
