I had some Urodynamic testing a semi-succesful cystoscopy yesterday beacause my Urologist needed info to help pinpoint cause of my incontinence. He now says I display symptoms of interstitial cystitis I'm having bladder spasms. He put me on 10mg of Ditropan XL 6 weeks bladder spasms wants to see me again in 3 weeks in his office. During my Urodynamic testing (CMG), nurse suprised at amount of pain I felt low volumes of sterile water infused in my bladder. She knew from looking at my bladder diary I had urinated 16oz at 2:30 in morning once. My Cystoscopy done only under mild IV sedation, ree will most likely have to be repeated under general anessia because Urologist unable to get my bladder hydrodistended enough to get a good look at bladder walls. I appntly squirming or moaning or something, so y stopped infusion of water. I have no recollection of , of cse. MY QUESTION IS ; would IC bladder spasms cause urine leakage in mselves? I would think bladder spasms would. He also said my leakage due to urine pooling in vagina after I urinate, n squirting out later. is because I'm overweight, I underst only cure is to lose weight. may take a while, since I have 100 pounds to lose. am I suppose to do in meantime? I'm so sick of living sex is painful (symptom of IC)- is not good when r a newly wed, ya know? I'm very frustrated confused, please help. thanks- sds

I am unsure what to advise, other than to give the medication a chance to work, and keep your urologist informed of your progress.

Actually, my question was....... Do IC and bladder spasms often occur together or go hand in hand??? Could bladder spasms themselves cause urine leakage?? m This is just a general question, I realize that I need to give the Ditropan a chance to work and I plan on doing just that. If you know anything about IC at all, I would appreciate you sharing it with me. Thanks, sds

Anything that causes bladder inflammation may cause bladder spasms, including IC. Blader spasms are not a typical cause of incontinence, but under some circumstances, may be causal.

i have bladder spasms and IC
i was on 10ml of ditopan xl for a long ime, it helps cover up the symptoms, but it doesn't really cure anything, sorry!
right now the're still trying to figure out what's causing the spasms, ill probably have botox injections in a couple of months to stop the spasms...
