MSM as an IC treatmentI have read and heard that MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a refined version of DMSO. Sometimes called DMSO2, have you heard of it? Do you recognise it as an IC treatment.
You can apparently take it orally or instill it into the bladder to help alleviate symptoms. Do you know what the mechanics behind it are and do you agree? Many sites on the net suggest it is a wonder product. I would like an opinion from an actual urologist
Re: MSM as an IC treatmentPlease go to:
http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/DSH/msm.html And strongly consider: The Bottom Line No published research studies link MSM to any of the health claims made by its marketers. Sulfur needed in human metabolism comes from dietary protein. MSM supplements probably make little or no contribution to the body's sulfur requirements. Thus there is no good reason to use MSM supplements. [quote] I have read and heard that MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a refined version of DMSO. Sometimes called DMSO2, have you heard of it... Re: Re: MSM as an IC treatmentI have gone to a neurological surgeon and he recommends dmso. I think it is less dangerous than some things prescribed. I have read that it gives great relief to a IC patient. I have yet to experience it; but it is used in mainstream medical treatments for IC. Hope you find it helpful. Please let me know as I am just beginning the horrid testing and teatment phase. Thanks..bobhake@msn.com phyllischildren
