My brother was having no pain, he is heathly, he woke up Wed. morning and when he went to the bathroom was bleeding. The reason that they told you that is because up to this point, Kidney cancer has no
known treatment that will help. Regular chemo and radiation will not work on kidney
cancer. If you have mets to the bone, then you can get radiation done to that spot,
but not to the kidney. They will remove part of all of the kidney, and then they will
wait to see if it grows elsewhere. Usually it mets to the bones, lungs, or brain.
There are some treatments now that help to shrink tumors, but as far as treating whole
body chemo, no, kidney cancer does not respond to that. Make sure that you get a second
opinion when you find a cancer doc. try to find one that specializes in kidney cancer -
that way you will get the best care, because like I said, they don't treat it like other
cancers. Be vigilant, read everything that you can, and stay positive...
