I have a million gustions floating around in my mind. Just got hit with some lab results that blow me away. My creatinine level is at 3.5, BUN at 57 and protein in the urine at 500. The doctors i my little town are all scratching their collective heads. I have gained over 22 lbs of excess fluids. Needless to say I look like a blimp. Have not been hospitalized, as we are waiting for a nephrologist to come in to town. I can feel the fluid collecting is my chest (I am on day 7, since this all started). Any insight??

You obviously have renal failure, if your potassium is normal then you most likely have chronic as opposed to acute failure. They need to find out whether it is due to pre renal cause like dehydration, or renal caused by a kidney disease (see nephrologychannel) or post renal caused by a stone or bladder outlet obstruction. Given the high protein it most likely is a renal cause.
