HELP what do i expect

Post a new topicby kentm on Thu Apr 03, 2008 10:00 am

Hello,

I'm a newbie to this forum and i come seeking help.
After a riecent fall from his motorcycle, my father was complaining of sore ribs so he visited his local GP who arrainged for an x-ray. they noticed a "Shadow" on his lung so they request a CT scan. to cut the long sory short. they have found a Tumor on his Kidney, a spot on his Liver and a large area of his lung that causes concern. Dad is a 65 year old man with hypertension who has given up smoking in 1996. and who takes Asprin daily to thin his blood.

i have no idea what we should expect and what the prognosis is. i suspect given that it appears the cancer has spread and that he has hypertension it is not good.

as he takes blood thinning medication, they are unable to take any biopsies until he has stopped his medications for 5 days, so this is to be done next friday, then we will know.

i just ask for some of you with previous experiences to give me some idea, as i am so worried.

thanks

kent

Hopefully the only Cancer is on the Kidney and if it did not spread they should be able to surgically remove the tumor and kidney like what I went thru 5 1/2 years ago, and I am now fine. I have had hypertension for over 25 years and I do not think that is a consideration as long as the hypertension is controlled by medication. My Dr who did the Surgery requested a clearance from my GP who gave me an EKG which was I believe is for purposes of CYA. I too take Aspirin daily and that was not a problem for me. As a lay person, I have no knowledge regarding the spot on the liver or shadow on the lung and leave those for you to discuss with your doctor. Hopefully they are nothing as Kidney Cancer that has not spread is 100% curable with surgery.
