Kidney Cancer

My mother-in-law (age 60) was diagnosed about a month ago. Unfortunately, it was diagnosed much too late. It has already spread to the lungs, lymph nodes, bones, spine, etc. They have now found a mass on the renal artery near her heart (?). She is inoperable. Last week we had some hope about targeted chemo to give her a little relief from the severe back pain she is experiencing, but now they have seemed to back off of this due to a belief that her body can't take it. She's in extreme pain and they are dosing her up with everything under the sun. Her blood pressure is through the roof, she is having bowel issues (her colon essentially shut down last week), and she is beginning to experience severe swelling in her legs. There is new fears of blood clots or a stroke I think the hospice discussion is coming today.

She is in so much pain with essentially no hope of relief. The prayers have no shifted to the good Lord just taking mercy on her and letting her go. The family is a mess because this has happened all so fast. No one will give a straight answer as to whether we are talking days, weeks, or months. I know no one has an expiration date, but can anyone give me any insight?????????

HI DAUGHTER IN LAW. FIRST, LET ME SAY MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOUR MOTHER IN LAW, YOU, AND ALL YOUR FAMILY, THIS JUST BREAKS MY HEART. I AM SO SORRY FOR ALL THE PAIN SHE IS GOING THROUGH. MY NAME IS EMILIO, AND I'M 48, AND LAST SEPTEMBER, I ALSO FOUND OUT I HAD A TUMOR ON MY KIDNEY, WENT THROUGH SURGERY, THEN ALSO FOUND OUT IT WENT TO MY BONES, AND SPINE. I HAVE ALSO ASKED MANY TIMES FOR A TIME LINE, SINCE I WANT TO KNOW, BUT THEY WILL NEVER TELL YOU, AS KIDNEY CANCER IS SO UNPREDICTABLE. YOU ARE AWARE THE SURVIVAL RATE % IS NOT GOOD. BASED ON STATS, I KNOW MINE IS UNDER 10% FOR 5 YEARS. WHEN I ASKED, ALL I GOT WAS THEY DIDN'T EXPECT ME TO DIE IN A YEAR, BUT THEY DIDN'T EXPECT ME TO BE AROUND IN 5 YEARS, WHICH DIDN'T HELP MY MIOND SET AT ALL. I KNOW THE PAIN SHE IS GOING THROUGH IS INCREDIBLE. I WENT THROUGH I.M.R.T. RADIATION ON MY SPINE, BASICALLY FOR THE PAIN, AND IT DID HELP ME, AND I TAKE MONTHLY ZOMETA INFUSIONS, TO HELP SLOW DOWN THE GROWTHS IN MY SPINE. I AM SO SOPRRY SHE IS IN SUCH PAIN, AND IT SEEMS SHE HAS LOVING PEOPLE SURROUNDING HER, WHICH DOES HELP. MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU, AND SPARE HER ALL THE PAIN, I'M SORRY.
