double collecting ureters

Post a new topicby katzy on Tue Aug 14, 2007 11:59 pm

Born with it and I am wondering if anyone else has chronic uti's and kidney infections. I cannot work due to this chronic problem which seems more frequent in colder months of the year. I also get kidney infections in the summer but i am not in so much body pain as I am in winter and fall. I have fevers, fatigue and confusion when I start getting sick with Kidney infection. So far, it has ruined my plans to do alot of things I have to get done...HELP!

In true double collecting systems one drains the top half of the kidney while the other drains the lower half. Also one tends to have reflux which can make a simple bladder infection into a kidney infection. If you have reflux you should consider getting it fixed. Beyond that daily cranberry juice or pills maybe helpful. In some of my patients with chronic UTI's I put them on a low dose daily antibiotic (macrobid also called macrodantin 100mg) that they take before going to bed.
