I have suffered with kidney stones for the past 9 years. The first time was because of an over active parathyroid, or after surgery it turned out to be 2 of them. 7 years went by kidney stone free, then I got all the symptoms with excruciating pain just over 18 months ago. I have passed several since then and had surgery again to remove more over active parathyroids. That left me with an under active parathyroid and low calcium and am on medication for it. Now I have a large kidney stone whi...Read the full article

I know what you mean. I had a parathyroid tumor that was removed a few years back. The doc said that the tumor was causing a lot of calcium in my body and it probably was causing my stones. Well, I still had stones and they needed to come out, some small, some large.....well, here it is 4/27/09 and I am having an attack. Looks like one of them is on the move. Like you, I am very tired of this. I have had Lipsotripsy on each stone with a stent. It seems to happen to me every 2 years. I am about to take a gun to my head, t
his is getting in the way of my job, my life and I too just want it to be gone!!!!!

I am still having pain in my right side 3 months after having surgery. How was your experience with the surgery?I am sorry to hear that you are still going through so much pain.

I had a 9mm plus 3 other large stones in my left side. Four shots of morphine and it didn't even touch the pain I was experiencing. I was given a more powerful narcotic which meant a night in the hospital. A stent was inserted to help eleviate the pain so I could go home with a light dose of pain medication. One day later I was back in for the lipsotripsy. Two days later I got an infection which put me back down for another week. I am feeling better right now, but this was the worse attack I have had and plan on following a strick diet....I DON'T WANT THIS AGAIN! I felt so bad I wanted to die!
