confused and a bit scared.Hi, Im new to kidney stones: 3 weeks ago woke up with extreme pain on left abdominal side....went to ER, has CT and turns out i have a 4 mm in the left ureter and a 2 mm in left kidney. Went to urologist im with the best group in the area... he said they should pass, but after a month it's time to look at other treatments... but that would be up to me to decide. I went ahead and scheduled surgery, utheroscopic. He said he would grab the 4mm, and maybe a stent depending on any swelling after procedure. I asked about the other stone, and he said since i would be out, he could just go up and grab the 2mm too, but that he would def. have to put a stent in for two to three days... then i could take it out...eeekkk
Surgery scheduled for thursday...that would make 30 days. The past two weeks x rays pretty much shw no real movement of the stone, its about an inch from the bladder. My Q: i have been in no pain for two weeks, nothing at all, and yes stone is there..... So do i go ahead with the surgery or do i wait more time since i am pain free? Im a bit scared about the surgery!!! And if i do the surgery do i have him just grab the one in the ureter, and avoid having him go up into the kidney? Or just get them both and be done with it? Uggg... this has really been a huge mental drain on me.....taken it's toll emotionally. Thanks, this site has really been helpful!
Re: confused and a bit scared. My doctor gave me FLomax when mine was in/near my bladder. It was there about 5 days when I took the Flomax. Total time it took was one day less than a month before I passed it.
Only you and your doc can decide what's best. Mine was not in a rush and wanted to give it some time to pass on it's own. I had ESWL and it didn't do anything to my remaining stones. I will have him go in with the ureter scope and try to laser blast them from the inside. Maybe you already did this last Thursday - let us know. Hope you're doing well.
