I have very mild discomt in my lower left back a. My doctor says I probably have a kidney stone. He asked very few questions hardly even looked me over. I plan on going back in week. In meantime, can someone offer some inmation about a kidney stone would cause constant feeling of needing to urinate. Is it common to have as primary symptom?

It is not common for a kidney stone to present with only urinary urgency as a symptom, but it is possible. When a stone is lodged in the ureter near to the bladder, it causes various irritative bladder symptoms such as urgency, frequency and nocturia. While blood is often associated with this condition, it is not absolutely necessary. Other conditions can also cause both blood in the urine and urinary frequency, of which the most common is a simple infection. Please consult a urologist to better determine exactly what your diagnosis is.
