Getting tired of being treated like a dumb a$$I am 24 years old and I have had kidney stone since I was 16. I have had to 2 surgreys, one to remove a 2mm stone that was lodge and the last one was to clean out my right kidney of stones and stones that had inbeded in my kidney. I haven't had any problems for the past two years, until now. I have a constant kidney infection for a month, went through two rounds of antibiotics, lots of blood in my urine and from the ct report 7 stones in my right kidney. I am in a lot of pain, but all of the freakin doctors I have went to said since they are in my kidney they shouldn't hurt, until they move. They won't believe me, I found one doctor who said he would clean out my kidney again but not until Feb. 12. A whole month away. I have a 6 year old and a 22 month old. I can't work, I can't sleep. And they think the stones don't hurt while they are in my kidney. Anybody else with this problem?
Re: Getting tired of being treated like a dumb a$$Girl hang in there..... I know what your going through. I'm 33 and have had OVER 300 stones too many surgeries and stints to count. Right now I have a 1.3cm.... 13mm stone stuck in my ureter. I had an emergency room DR tell me, after finding the stone mind you, that I wasn't in pain and gave me a script for antibiotics and discharged me. Girl i'm telling you I flipped out so bad they had to call security on me.... My hydronafrosis was so bad I could have screamed. When I got to my Jeep I called my doc and he had me directly admitted. he placed a stint the next day but could do nothing else because of the infection. My next surgery is Feb 2. This is the worst pain I have ever known and if you are in pain you are in pain. If your doc doesn't believe you then find one that does. if they say the stones arn't causing the pain then make them fine what is causing the pain. Your in my prayers!!!!

Re: Getting tired of being treated like a dumb a$$I know exactly how you feel. I am 22. I had a PCNL surgery in November to remove a 22 mm stone in my right kidney. After complications i ended up having 3 more minor procedures and another surgery resulting in and embolization to stop bleeding in my right kidney. I have hyperthyroidism. I have been producing stones since i was 15. (i will NEVER forget the pain of passing my first one) Luckily, i dont have any pain until they pass. But it has been proven that (no matter what size of stone) it is still possible to feel them even though they are not moving. Pain in that area can also be caused from inflammation of your kidney due to your stones. If your in a lot of pain and dont want to wait a month, check yourself into the ER when the pain is horrible and maybe you can talk them into doing surgery them. (May not work, but maybe!) Hang in there!!! I'm glad there is someone out there that finally around my age that can relate to my problem as well.
Re: Getting tired of being treated like a dumb a$$Thank you also! I am so tired of doctor telling me I'm crazy to think that they hurt while still in the kidney. Two years ago, I had sevrel removed out of my right kidney, the doctor had to cut two out of the kidney and caused me to bleed for like two weeks. I say that after that much damage when my stones get big enough, my kidney is still very sensitive, and they hurt. I wrote an e-mail to the International Kidney Stone Institute of Indianapolis and they wrote me back saying that they believe some people do feel pain while the stone is still in the kidney. I am currently working on trying to get in there since they seem to know what they are doing and don't think I am crazy. If you live close to there, I would google them and see if you could get in also.
Re: Getting tired of being treated like a dumb a$$A good way to find a good urologist or nephrologist is to ask them, "Have you ever had a kidney stone yourself?" Chances are if they say yes, they will feel your pain and understand everything you tell them. I wish i would have asked my doctor the same thing. My right kidney was bleeding after my PCNL surgery from a complication and it kept forming large blood clots (impossible to pass; 3-5" in size) After about 2 weeks of bleeding while recovering and a few ER visits, my urologist finally beleived me and brought me back to the hospital for further procedures. Maybe if my urologist would have experienced a kidney stone or a PCNL surgery himself then maybe he would have believed me and took me in for more treatment earlier.
