with-out the knowledge the size of your invasive intruder of your well being i can say this...i have passed a 4mm x 7mm it took about two months and some flo-max (Sorry to say Flo-max is for shrinking Prostate so if your a woman...I can't see how that could help you) Go to a Pharmacy and get PHENAZOPYRIDINE HYDROCHLORIDE 95mg also known as AZO Standard you can get it over the counter and it is a WONDERFUL asset for us !!! (Be very careful because your urine will be Orange in color and IT WILL STAIN EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES)..having said that the best thing i can say is DO NOT BE LAYING ARROUND ! Be as active as you can be...I realize you don't feel like a Human and depression and PAIN will make you feel like not doing it but you NEED to be active...Don't drink Carbonated drinks or achohol (including Beer) cause it will feel as if your voiding ( Whizzing ) fire, I certainly hope my two cents will put you at a little ease and my thought will be with you and everyone else who is plagued with these agraV8n peices of pure greif..please feel free to ask me anything else and i will give you my best advice from 30 years of experience...wake yourself up in the middle of the night and drink water,Bruce:)

I had a pcnl done in August 2009. Looking back it wasn't so bad, but it wasn't pleasant going through it. The radiologist did his part on a Wednesday, and then the urologist finished on Thursday, and I left the hospital on Saturday. I had a catheter for only 24 hrs, but I had a drainage bag attached to the tube in my back for 5 days. I didn't have a stent at all. The dr was able to remove a 3cm stone from the mid-pole area, but was not able to work on any of the smaller stones in the lower pole due to the placement/direction of the access.
I am usually a fairly active woman, but this operation certainly put me down for 2 weeks - That was the most difficult part for me. I depended on the morphine during the hospital stay, but the pain was minimal once I got home. And the removal of the nephro tube wasn't so bad.
Good luck. I've read some of your posts, and I think you're right on target - drink as much water as possible and try to stay active.

i think this pcnl will be a better procedure because of the short turn arround...the one i watched was accomplished in one day with two teams but i guess getting a team together is tough and i can understand ...My latest experience starts thurs. Nov 12,09 with the access tube and then the removal on the 13th..I hope everyone keeps their sanity dealing with these little buggers we are dealt...I will get back on here and give my opinion of this procedure asap after my surgeries-+...until then...GoodLuck Everyone:) Bruce
