Stone stuck in kidneyHi everyone!
I have had 2 surgerys to attempt to get my stone out but it seems that the little bugger is now stuck in the "meaty" part of my kidney. I am not in any pain (anymore that is...was having very bad bladder spasms) and he wants to just let it go and put me on a low oxalate diet and for me to get a CT scan done in a year. Has anyone ever had this happen where the stone just pops back up to where it can't be reached and just waited until it moved? Thanks!
Re: Stone stuck in kidneyWhat kind of surgeries did you have to attemp to remove your kidney stone? How big was your stone? I just recently had a 22mm stone taken out my right flank in my back. (PCNL) Luckily my doctor was able to extract all the little pieces, but i have a 3mm stone in my left kidney tissue. I was told that it probably would not move and it probably would not grow. There is nothing they can do to it, considering where it is located. I also have to get a CT scan every 6 months - 1 year to determine if it has grown or moved at all so they will be able to take care of it before it grows to big. I feel your pain!!!!

Re: Stone stuck in kidneyI am not really sure what the correct term is, but it's where they go up with a scope that has a laser to crush the stone. My first doctor pushed it back up and told me that he got it when he didn't. Went to a new doc that did the same procedure, told me he I must have passed it because it wasn't there anymore. Now after this last CT, it's still there. They just told me that since I wasn't in anymore pain to just leave it be. I was having horrible bladder spasms after both of the surgeries. Those have now stopped. My stone is 5-6mm and has stayed that way since I went to the hospital in May. This is my first experience with a stone and I am in my early 30's. I have had my fair share of broken bones, random trips to the ER for other things, but this is the worst pain in the world!
Re: Stone stuck in kidneyDo not wait to have your stone removed! If i had cought my stone when it was that size, i would not have had to endure as much medical care as i did. My stone was 22mm and it was removed out my right flank, but i ended up having a complication of a blood vessell in my bottom of my right kidney rupturing which caused me to bleed horribly and it sent me to the hospital for further procedures and 1 1/2 week stay. Chances are, your stone will eventually start to grow again and it is already to the point where you can not pass it so if it gets much larger and causes a blockage, you will be in much more pain. Even though you dont have a lot of pain now, i would definately consult a different urologist or a nephrologist and get it taken out immediately.
Kidney stones are very painful, i understand. I am a 22 yr. old female and i never ever thought i would have this pain or even be diagnosed with a 22 mm stone. Take my advice and don't let it sit there, even if your not in pain.
