Does this indicate the stone probably passed to the bladder?

You have to schedule yourself for a check up to ensure if the stones are still present or not. It's better to be sure than never.

What is the most common proceedure for checking to see if the stone is still there? What type of X-ray and what is involved?

Maybe, but not always. Without a CT scan, or at least a KUB, there is no certainty.
