34 year old with a 3.7 psa

Post a new topicby palmbeachcfi on Thu Mar 06, 2008 3:50 pm

Hello,

I am a 34 years old white male, i am a survivor of Renal Cell Carcinoma, they found my cancer in 2006 at stage one and i have been ok since. Here is my question. MY Doctor decided to test my PSA 2 years ago and the results were 1.7. Now two years later after a routine cbc, my white blood cells are high 15.5 and my psa jumped two points to 3.7, its that number normal for a 34 year old?

Thanks
Mike

Hello Mike,

Thank you for participating in the forum. Although I do not have a direct answer to your question, I would like to refer you to the following physician-developed and -monitored content for additional information on PSA levels:

I hope this information is helpful. Physicians who monitor these forums respond to some posts but not to all, so please continue to post in the forum as you learn additional information.

I wish you the very best.

Prostate cancer risk assessment is about many factors. With a PSA between 3 and 4, the risk of a positive biopsy is about 25%. It is higher than that when you are on the young side and even higher if there are prostate nodules or family history. Take a look at this video of a 37-year old man and how his doctor almost led him astray. It has a happy ending only because he changed doctors and insisted on the PSA ...

Suggestyou see a Urologist. It seems the velocity of your PSA may indicate a problem, an annual increase of 0.04 requires investigation according to the experts. Better sure than sorry.
Good Luck,
K.D.
