Jim,
I have experienced my psa rising over the last 1 1/2 years..began at 0.4....year later 4.4....waited a month and rose to over 5....had a biopsy and it came back negative...been 6 months and another psa...now 7.1 looking next into a saturation biopsy where they stick the prostate from all angles...my understanding is that a regular biopsy only test the back of the prostate where most prostate cancers originate...personally I'm worried because of the rise over the last 1 1/2 years...but I have no symptoms that are associated w/PC...??? I know that psa is prostate specific but it has turned out to be anxiety specific for me...for me saturation biopsy in about 6 weeks....fan

Hi Jim,

Unfortunately, with a PSA that high there's a 99.9% chance that you Do have Prostate Cancer. What you don't want to do is have another biopsy and take a chance of spreading the disease outside the prostate. What happens if they tell you once again it's negative, that's going to still leave you in despair. There is an alternative to having a biopsy, it's called an MRI-S of the Prostate. Keep in mind that a biopsy will only find Cancer 20-30% of the time, where an MRI-S is about 90% accurate in finding Prostate Cancer with ZERO chance of spreading Cancer. So my friend, PLEASE don't let any more Doctors stick any more needles in you...Craig
