I hope that it's not cancer

Post a new topicby do95133 on Tue Sep 29, 2009 6:01 pm

I am 38 years old and I've been suffering the symptoms of prostatitis off & on for almost 2 years now.
I went to a urologist as he performed DRE on me twice in 3 month but no nodule was detected, the PSA was 2.4 and then 3.5 and the latest one 2.2. He did not believe I had prostate cancer and suggested it was some sort inflamation going on since there were several degenerated white cells in my urine from the high powered field. Septra, Cypro and Macrobid were tried and they helped in a short time then symptoms such as frequent urination, swollen & discomfort perineum came back again and again but usually relieved with Ibuprofen. These symptoms mostly came back after sexual intercourse and sometime I felt it urine stream was weak for at least 1-2 days after sex. My family doc was upset with me since I've been back and fort & complaint about those on & off symptoms and told me those symptoms are not related to prostate cancer because prostate cancer does not have symptoms and if it does, it just keeps getting worse, no on & off. These words relieved me for a little while but I still won't stop worrying about cancer when the symptoms come back. Please let me know if you have the same problem. Thank you.

I have prostate cancer. My prostate was removed in March. I had none of the symptoms you described. In fact, I didn't have any symptoms except for the elevated PSA which triggered everything else since then. Even the DRE was normal for a man my age. I'd trust your doctor on this one and look for other causes of your problems.

I have been told by several men that the only thing that helps prostatis is Bactrim. It's a sulfur drug, used for all kinds of things, trouble is, it's not really a drug, and so doctors have lost the knowledge of it, an old doc will prescribe it readilly.

Ask your doc about it, if you live close to Mexico you can buy it over the counter, as it isn't considered a drug.

Doesn't sound like cancer to me either!

Thank you sir, I feel relief and all the symptoms went away by themselves in the past 2 weeks. I now 100% sure that is not cancer. I thank you and wish you the best of luck and God bless you.
