Can prostatitis cause fleshy bump below meatus?

Post a new topicby andrewp on Fri Jun 06, 2008 7:59 pm

I've been on doxycycline for almost three months now and all symptoms of prostatitis have almost gone away. However the first symptom I experienced is still present: a small fleshy bump below my urethral meatus as well as an inflamed and "puckered" meatus near the bump coupled with occasional stinging during urination in the last inch of my urethra.

After the urologist who diagnosed prostatitis said the bump was nothing, I saw a second who said it was likely a swollen mucus membrane and the antibiotics should get rid of it. He also said the stinging is probably associated with the bump. I would think if the antibiotics were going to get rid of this they would have done so by now.

Can prostatitis cause a fleshy bump like this? It is painless, soft, and pliable. I can squeeze it and nothing comes out. It's just like extra skin. I wouldn't worry about it except for the meatus being clearly irritated as well as the occasional stinging during urination causes me concern.

Any input is greatly appreciated.
