Do I have non bacterial prostatitis?

Post a new topicby Dangerous on Tue Dec 02, 2008 6:14 am

Hi all,

I am 26 years old and have re occurring UTI's which really annoy me. Two weeks ago I got another, but rather than await the same symptomology ( mild suprapubic discomfort and clamminess) I went to the doctor and explained the symtoms. I left with a script for amoxil ( penacilin) which I had filled and took for one week. After the one week course I returned to the doctor, stating that I still had the abdominal tightness and clamminess. I had consumed three liters of water per day trying to wash out the infection . The doctor took full bloods, and tested my urine. The results of the two tests came back negative for a UTI In the interim I suddenly ceased being able to urinate voluntarily much to my disgust, and upon returning to the doctor told him this. He tested my prostate with the PSA test which came back in the ' normal" range. He told me to take a broad spectrum anti biotic ( Keflex) and monitor it. I have been closely monitoring the urine flow which has improved a little over the course of a week. I have also begun to develop slight lower back tenderness ( not pain). I have never had any blood in my semen, no burning sensation upon urination, have not been up all night trying to go to the toilet or had a fever. However I still feel there is something wrong. In light of the fact that the PSA came back normal could I have non bacterial prostatitis?

Thoughts please

I read where a urine culture (mid stream) will show if you have bacteria from the prostrate...?
Did you have this..?

Hi man
You sure made wrong tests !!!
First you have to find a good doc, and have to make real tests - that will tell you about your prostatitis type.

Hope that it helped you.
