Just diagnosed with Prostatitis

Post a new topicby stridrs on Sun Oct 21, 2007 9:10 pm

Hi

For the past few months I've been going to the urinal more than usual - enough that it's gotten disturbing. I've never felt any pain while urinating or during ejaculation. I finally went to the urologist he found no bacteria in my urine. He thought my symptoms were a result of some other medication I was taking, I discontinued that but the problem didn't stop. So the next time around he inserted a scope into me (into the penis - it's the most terrible feeling ever) and concluded that there was some inflammation of the prostrate; prostatitis. He's given my an antibiotic and another medicine called uroxatral. I've been on both meds for 3 days now, yet to see some noticeable effects, but I'm hopeful. The Q I have is - if there's no bacteria in the urine, what kind of prostatis do I have? Will be sure to ask more for the next doc visit......was just too dazed after the last visit to think coherently.

thanks

Sorry not much help here but there is a urine test and there is a urine culture (mid stream sample)
it is the culture that identifies the if there is bacteria and what it is...
