Prostatitis

I'm a 62 year old with chronic prostatitis My issue is pain not frequent urination. I'm concerned about loss of libido as a possible side effect. I would greatly appreciate your experience with Proscar.
Also if you know of any non drug alternatives that you have had success with to reduce the size of the prostrate

I'm 47 and I have had bouts of Chronic (non-bacterial) Prostatitis for 5 years now. It started out at once or twice a year, but now it is much more frequent and this last bout has lasted since 12/7/2008 to today and no signs of letting up. I also suffer from pelvic pain which can spread to my testacles, penis and rectum when it is really bad. I have been to numerous urologists with little treatment success. I am also VERY interesested in Proscar or TUMT. Hopefully someone will answer this post and give us some hope.

I have now been on Proscar 5mg per day and my discomfort level has been reduced. Began to see improvement 48 hours after taking drug. So far no major side effects. Thanks for your reply.
