Wow, first I go through pelvic organ reconstructive surgery and now my doctor tells me I have herpes...what next. I am so shocked as I am happily married for 23 years and 25 years with the same man, my husband. Once again I am devasted. The doctor has started me on a course of Valtrex and ointment since he doesn't want the infection spreading to my open incision for surgery a week ago. I can count the number of men I had relations with on one hand and can name the all. I continue to think about the times I was with them and am pretty sure protection (condoms) were used every time eexcept of course with my husband. This puts so many questions into my mind and to my knowledge he hasn't had any open lesions that I'm aware of. I feel like the misfit in our relationship and dirty. I haven't spoken directly with my doctor just yet as it was his nurse who called to break the news. This is not a topic I am familar with and have done quite a bit of research on the internet. Not much more to say right now..still in shock.
