Hello.
I am nurse. My boyfriend about three weeks ago developed what appeared to be a swolen lymph node at the base in front of his penis. It was palapable and a little tender to touch, since then, it has swollen and turned red. I started him on some antibiotics, Amoxicillin 500 mg twice a day and Motrin for pain and swelling 800mg twice a day. He says he thinks its helping, but when I look at it, it looks swollen and painful. Wondering what else this could be besides an internally infected lymph node? I have searched the internet and my med books and can not find anything that resembles it. I am also familiar with STD's from my work and it doesn't look like any I have seen before. We have been sexually active for over a year and this is the first time something has come up and we both say we haven't been with other people during this time. Any ideas?

I would love to have a urology consult, but his insurance sucks so we will have to see.

Also, I advised him to let it rest and avoid masturbation, tight clothing, and sex. However, it is not open, so could it be contagious?
