time frame for DOXY?the clinic gave me DOXY (for the treatment of an STD) and it said i have to take ONE hit TWICE a day for SEVEN days.
At the moment, i'm taking "over-the-counter" UTI medicine for the treatment of the urge and burning sensation when urinating. So my question is: Is there a time frame that DOXY has to be taken? or can i take it SEVEN out of 31 days rather than 7 out of 7 days! b/c dat is too much medicine all at once!
Re: time frame for DOXY?Girl, take your doxycycline as prescribed!!! If you don't take it as directed - one capsule every 12 hours until gone - you won't get cured!! Worse, you could cause the bacteria to become resistant to the antibiotic and it will take treatment with another antibiotic to get you cured. That means many more days of suffering or, worse, the symptoms will disapper (as they often do) but the bacteria will still be inside you eating away at your various internal organs. That is very bad.
The doxy may be effective against your non-STD UTI (if you have one), but there is no OTC treatment for gonorrhea or chlamydia. So, if you feel you have to skip a treatment, skip the OTC treatment and take the doxy as you were told. Don't skip doses or days. Again, if you are concerned about all the medicine, ask the clinic or pharmacist about it. Or tell us what the OTC is and what all the clinic thinks you have. Regardless, get back on that doxy. If you have already skipped some doses, then you will need to go back to the clinic and ask for more. You might ask them for treatment with Zithromax - a single dose treatment. Costs a lot more, but quite effective. And, of course, no more unprotected sex until you are in that long term, monogomous relationship.
