retroperitonial lymph node dissection

Post a new topicby americanbulldog on Wed Aug 13, 2008 6:42 pm

Well I just had this major surgery called lymph node dissection. I was in the hospital for 4 days. They put 35 staples in my stomach to hold it shut. This is very painful. It has been 7 days since my surgery day and let me tell you, it is still very sore. They removed 21 lymph nodes using the modified template nerve sparing technique. They say I am cancer free. It has been a long 8 weeks since the testical removal. But it is alot of relief to find that the cancer had not yet spread. The surgery seems to be very painful just to make sure it had not spread, but well worth it to know its gone for sure. I had a hard time finding anyone who had the surgery to get answers from so if I can help with questions feel free to ask. I will be off work for 6 weeks so I will have plenty of time to answer your questions.
